RG3 Would Be Ready For 2013...If He Was Benched After The Ravens Game

Well that headline isn't exactly a fact...but...

With the news just in about Robert Griffin the third under going a "successful" surgery, doubt still looms about whether or not he will be 100% before the start of the 2013 season.  Doctor James Andrews is hiding behind a vague answer.

One thing is for sure, the Redskins better not let him step one foot on the field until he is 100%. Not 50%, not 90%, not even 99.9999999999999%.  Robert Griffin is the Redskins fans' golden ticket and their chocolate factory is a large stadium in East Rutherford New Jersey.

If something doesn't change offensively with the gameplan that keeps RG3 safe from himself as well as the opposing defenses, then the trust of Redskins fans goes right out the door.  Fan-anger is already at a fever-pitch after coaches allowed the QB to keep taking the field after his initial injury against the Ravens.

And think about this for a minute; had the Skins removed Griffin from the lineup earlier, he may have still required surgery.  If that happened he would already be in his second month of recovery and rehab.  That would have nearly guaranteed his knee would be better for the 2013 campaign.

Instead, Redskins fans will have to cross their fingers and hope for the best.

What does that mean!  It means we should all rent the movie Mr. Destiny and watch it 5 times.

The Wizards Coach Randy Wittman Fires A Shot At Mike Shanahan

The Washington Wizards are far from a successful team.  In fact, they currently have the worst record in the entire NBA.  But after a big win over the top team in the NBA the Oklahoma City Thunder on a buzzer beater Monday Night, Wiz coach Randy Wittman took a moment to dis Mike Shanahan in his post-game press conference, to the delight of the media.

The Wiz were shorthanded due to injury, and two players that had previously missed several games came back to contribute because of the shortened roster.  But did the injured players get the doctor's approval before coming back?  Let's hear what coach Wittman (record 5-28) has to say:

"Being down 7 guys and having to talk AJ and Trevor ...with the doctor's approval...Ok...WITH THE DOCTOR'S APPROVAL ...alright...I just want to make that clear, I don't want anything started here...that they could give me some minutes"

Take that Shanny!  The worst coach in the NBA firing shots!!!

It made me smile for a minute, then I remembered that what happened to RG3 was in fact real life...

Shutting Down RG3 Like Strasburg, Hindsight Is 20/20

The biggest story in Washington DC during 2012, only slightly behind the presidential election, was the Stephen Strasburg shutdown decision.  Now in 2013 another debate has just sparked up, should the Redskins have followed the Nationals example and shutdown their star in Robert Griffin III.

The Nationals decided to shutdown their ace Stephen Strasburg at the end of last season and he is now 100% healthy and ready for a full workload in 2013. The Redskins didn't shutdown RG3 after he injured his LCL in Week 14 and now he faces a possible long term injury and the Redskins are out of the playoffs.

Clearly the two situations are completely different, but that hasn't stopped people from comparing the two.  And EVERYONE is an expert.

Howie long brought this point up on the Fox postgame show: "Washington has 2 of the really dynamic young stars in sports today. Stephen Strasburg with the Nationals, and RG3 in football. The Nationals made the decision to shut Stephen Strasburg down...you have to wonder, and I hope RG3 is good and its just a slight setback, but you have to wonder, should he have been on the field today".

The question that Mike Shanahan had to consider was having Kirk Cousins on the field to face Seattle or the injured RG3. Shanny went with the guy who got them there, RG3.

RG3 Re-Injures Knee, Goes Down, Leaves Game

On Sunday night at FedEx field, Robert Griffin III limped his way through 4 quarters of football but after a low snap the rookie QB re-injured his knee against the Seattle Seahawks.  The knee bent the wrong way and knocked Robert out of the game, possibly ending his season.

Here is a GIF of the play and of two fan reactions:

RG3's Awkward CBS 9 Interview And Jack City Rob Jackson

CBS 9 pulled RG3 over to their cameras to give a brief interview and it was some great television.  At one point in the interview, the reporter, Dave Owens, says he is done with questions, then says he lied and asks another question.  At that point he goes off onto a stuttery talk about how RG3 remembers him:

"You remember me at the uh, uh at the uh uh uh, what...wha...wha...what was that...up in new york city, the, the subway.  When I was tryn...when you told me don't ask you any questions and I still asked you questions" -Dave Owens

Next up was the revelation that Rob Jackson's nickname was "Jack City":

"The MVP Rob Jackson, Jack City as we call him..." -RG3

Then an even more awkward moment when the reporter says he is finished with the questions, but he doesn't want RG3 to leave:

"I'd love to keep you all night long...is there anything you want to talk about? Ask me any questions?" -Dave Owens

"We're Good, I think I wanna go home now" -RG3

RG3 looked overwhelmed, tired, and ready to go home and get some sleep.  However he was mobbed like the president of the United States all night by everyone.  Fame is great, but this has to be frustrating for RG3.

RG3 Chants So Loud They Interrupt NBC Broadcast

Here is an audio clip from Sunday Night Football.  The crowd at FedEx field starts an incredibly loud RG3 chant during the coin toss.  It was so loud it could be heard from the broadcast booth and even caused Cris Collinsworth to bring attention to it.  It sort of fit in with the program as he was in the middle of talking about how great RG3 was when it happened.

Take a listen!

Here Is RG3 Getting Smashed Again

This sort of looked like a clean hit, but the refs threw the flag for roughing the QB.  Hate seeing RG3's helmet come off and then him hitting the ground.

RG3 Fumble Turns Into Josh Morgan Touchdown

Everybody who writes about this play is going to write the same stupid tagline.  "Even when RG3 fumbles, it turns into a great play".  Well that is kind of true, but too easy.

RG3 ran the option, was hit by the Giants, about an inch from the ground he ended up fumbling, batting the ball up in the air, and right into the arms of Joshua Morgan, who scampered into the endzone.  Words don't do it justice, so here is the GIF.

Here is a GIF of Robert Griffin III doing a drop-kick during pre-game warmups.  I remember Doug Flutie actually doing this in a game, will RG3 do it in real action?

RG3 Talks With Jon Gruden On Sunday Conversation

Robert Griffin III sat down with Jon Gruden on Sports Center for the Sunday Conversation.  It was really brief and Gruden did most of the talking.  They/Gruden talked about how great Cam Newton is, the spread, Robert being named captain, RG3's jumping around and falling down celebrations, and who should win the heisman.  I would transcribe it, but there was not 1 interesting thing.  Gruden was Grudeny and Bob was Griffiny.

FINE!

Gruden: "I used to watch you flick touchdown passes...I remember making fun of you because every time you threw a touchdown pass you went DOWN, you know, i ain't never seen that type of celebration"

Gruden in a voice like he wants to eat RG3 like he is a piece of cake.

"Just look at you..you love to play quarterback don't you Robert"

Gruden also said "Santana Moss", "London Fletcher", and "D'Angelo Hall" a lot like they were Walter Peyton or Vince Lombardi

Robert Griffin III RG3 Featured On WWE Monday Night Raw

After watching another terrible Wizards loss, I flipped over to Monday Night Raw and who do I see but Washington Redskins Rookie QB Robert Griffin III.  They showed a clip from the 4th & Pain (Adam Carriker) Website.

RG3 did the famous John Cena "You Can't See Me" hand gesture that DC fans may know better as DeShawn Stevenson's "I Can't Feel My Face" move that helped bring 0 championships to the Wizards.

"Oh yeah but we saw you on Thanksgiving Day, 4 TD's against the Dallas Cowboys, Impressive!" -Jerry the King Lawler

How About A Fourth Touchdown? RG3 To Niles Paul

RG3 threw his 4th touchdown pass of the day to his 4th different wide receiver.  With Aikman once again saying "this is a great time to take a shot" on a 3rd and inches, the Skins did.  Niles Paul was uncovered and caught a tough RG3 pass taking him to the ground and rolling into the endzone for the TD.

Cam Newton Making Out With RG3

Here is a bizarre image from Sunday's Panthers-Redskins game.  It is Cam Newton having a few words with RG3 after the game...or they are making out...You make the call!

Check out this clip of Terry Bradshaw in the pre-game saying that he wants to see RG3 and Cam Newton hook up.  Sure enough, Terry got his wish!

RG3 Does Stupid Jump, Somehow Survives

Here is another "please don't do it" moment from RG3.  On a 4th and 4 in a 2-score game, Robert Griffin took off towards the first down and he wasn't sure if he would make it.  So he decided to fly like superman and dive for the first.

Love the heart, but not the decision.  It was scary, he almost did a flip, and somehow he landed pretty cleanly.  Watch it:

RG3 Goes Out To Catch Pass, Interference, Then Leveled

I guess because of reasons explained by the GIF in the previous post (WRs dropping passes), Kyle Shanahan decided to run a play that works in Pop Warner football.  He had RG3 pitch the ball to Josh Morgan who then attempted a long pass to the quarterback.

Morgan was hit on the play initially and when he got his balance he just chucked an ugly pass in the air.  RG3, who is NOT a receiver, ended up pushing off the Steelers defender before getting leveled by Ryan Clark.  Gif after jump:
